, one of the most friendly mushers from Brandbu (about 50 km north from Oslo) is just leaving Alta for her 1.000 kilometer adventure with her dog-team to Kirkenes and back ...
told us today something about her dogs ...
Nina mentioned her 12 Femundlopet dogs and will have two additional dogs to complete her Finnmarkslopet 2011 team. She didn't say, but we realized, that Femundlopet is important for the best European long distance mushers, but Finnmarkslopet is the main event in each season.
Delta (photo) is special ...
Nina picked out one dog, which is very special: Delta
. With her she has a close relationship full of confidence to each other. Delta is able to run the whole Finnmarkslopet distance in lead - mainly in single lead. See Delta's
relatives here: Delta's pedigree
dog team for Femundlopet 600:
Main leaders: Delta (2005), Nettie (2005), Jessie (2006), she is new in her team and has done Iditarods & 4xF600), Guffen (2005), Doffen (2005)
Leaders: Lusa (2008), Loppa (2008), Kelvin (2009) & Johann (2009) - from own litter
Fourwheelers: Knik (2002), Hauk (2007)
Team dog: Makro (2009) own bred.
Nina's dogs are mainly black with one exception. They will wear pink sneakers (booties) from Dogbooties.com
and pink harnesses from Dogsport.no
to raise money and increase the awareness for breast cancer research.
Six of the twelve Femundlopet 600 dogs also did Finnmarkslopet 1000 last year.
The strenght of her teams are hard trails and running fast. The Weakness are steep trails, they are slower then. Nina said. But we guess this is rather true for all dog teams ...
Nina also mentioned the outstanding ancestors of her dogs, like
Louise and Marius (Bjørnar Andersen),
Jeppedalen´s Sas (Robert Sørlie),
Takk (Golden Harness Award, Iditarod 2003) ...
